Travel Medication assistance provided by GPCA

Germantown Primary Care Associates (GPCA) offers international travel consults  and travel medication services. The ideal timeframe is 6 weeks or earlier prior to travel, but a consult could occur no later than two weeks prior to travel. The consult would include a discussion of your destination, types of activities you plan to do, length of stay, review of past vaccinations (bring your immunization records), discussion of medical travel risks and risk/ benefits of suggested vaccinations.

Potential vaccinations include:

Yellow Fever: Our Medical Director, Dr. Takhar, has been designated as a Yellow Fever Vaccination provider by the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. This vaccine is typically recommended for individuals living or traveling to parts of Africa and South America.

Other vaccines that may be suggested are:

  • Hepatitis A
  • Hepatitis B
  • Typhoid
  • Tetanus
  • Meningococcal
  • Measles/Mumps/Rubella (MMR)
  • Rabies
  • Influenza
  • HPV
  • Varicella (chickenpox)
  • Japanese Encephalitis
  • Poliomyelitis
